Sub-Campus Kahuta Havelie

Haveli District is the 10th districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. It was formerly a part of Bagh District, but it separated from Bagh on 1 July 2009 and become the ninth district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. It has a population of 152,124 according to the 2017 Census. People of Haveli Districts are most educated than all districts of Azad Kashmir. Gujjar, Rathor and ethnic kashmiri Khawajas are major tribes of the District Haveli. Others include Syed Sherazi, syed Kazmi, Bukhari, Gillani, Khan (Pathan), Niazi, Dar, Kiani, Sheikh, Mughal, Thakar, Farooqi etc. According to the Alif Ailaan Pakistan District Education Rankings 2015, Haveli is ranked 17 out of 148 districts in terms of education. For facilities and infrastructure, the district is ranked 146 out of 148. In view of the educational needs of the inhabitants of the Kahuta Havelie, Sub Campus of the University of Poonch Rawalakot has been established on November 16, 2017 at Kahuta. The campus has been initially housed in the building of Boys Degree College Kahuta. In the first phase, two undergraduate degree programs have been launched in the disciplines of, Education and Computer Sciences. The cultural norms of the area and lack of resources limit the higher education opportunities for the youth especially females who are unable to join higher education institutions in big cities. The university campus at Kahuta Havelie is providing the higher education facilities to the youth at their doorsteps and enables them to take part in national development.

Department of Education

The aim of education is to grow children into productive citizens that use their knowledge, talents, and learned skills to sustain themselves and help others while pushing the human race forward in areas of equality, equity, and harmony. The Department of Education, a progressive department for prospective teachers, education researchers, practising educators and other related professionals. The Department of Education at UPR SC Kahuta is an active, research-oriented department, responsive to the growing demands of educators in the broad National and International spectrum. We are fortunate to present to you a Department staffed by highly skilled professionals, whom have National and International reputation in their area of teaching and research. Specific inquiry and analysis of educational issues is the hallmark of the department and our faculty remains actively engaged in introducing modern teaching strategies. The Department of Education offers extra ordinary professional development opportunities to individuals who are interested to become efficient educationist. Our trainings program helps one develop specializations in Basic & Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Biological sciences, Physical sciences and the Humanities. One can also specialize in Primary, Elementary, Secondary and Early Childhood Education.

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed Honours & Associate Degree)

BEd (4 years) program's focus on education and training of prospective teachers grows out of a profound belief in the transformative power of education. Our mission is to promote the development of highly qualified and efficient teaching professionals who are prepared to creatively contribute to the social, cultural, and educational development of a globally oriented, pluralistic, and diverse society. BEd (4 years) program will be a composite program blending Core Courses, Foundation Courses, Professional Courses, and Specialization Courses. In addition to strengthening content-specific knowledge of the students, courses are offered for bringing about pedagogical knowledge, skills and attitudinal change amongst the learners for developing an understanding of child psychology, creative abilities of children, and using child-centred inquiry based teaching for student learning and development. The teacher trained through new program will be able to teach at Secondary and Higher Secondary Levels and will be an equivalent of the existing master's degree. B.Ed degree is designed to cater the need of candidates who want to be an educationist but possess no background knowledge in this field. A Four years degree program provides a golden opportunity to students to gain enough knowledge in this field. Students graduated with B.Ed will be able to work decently in this field.

Department of Computer Science

The Computer Science Field is one of the fastest growing and highest paying career paths in the world. The most important aspect of computer science is problem solving, an essential skill for life. Students study the design, development and analysis of software and hardware used to solve problems in a variety of business, scientific and social contexts. Because computers solve problems to serve people, there is a significant human side to computer science as well. The Department of Computer Science & Information Technology (CS&IT) was established in 2017 at kahuta Havelie as a sub-campus of University of Poonch, Rawalakot. The department offers an excellent learning environment, laboratories equipped with latest computers (all connected through Local Area Network) with internet facility, most recent books and qualified faculty. The department developed the curricula of academic programs at various levels to meet the national and international standards as defined by Higher Education Commission.

Department of English

The Department of English was established in 2013. The department offers BS English and M.A English programs in Linguistics and Literature. BS English is a four year program which aims at producing well- rounded young professionals with sound knowledge of linguistics and literature. M.A English is a two year program which builds sound foundation of the students and foregrounds them for research in their chosen fields of interest. The department offers a wide range of courses keeping in view the importance of both traditional and innovative trends regarding English Language and Literature. The main focus of the department is to cater to the need of the country and most specifically to the need of the state of Azad Jammu & Kashmir for English Graduates; and to provide quality education and rigorous training in the fields of English Language and Literature, Theoretical and applied linguistics and Research.
