Veterinary Basic Sciences

Introduction

The Department of Veterinary Basic Sciences consists of four disciplines namely; Anatomy, Histology, Physiology and Pharmacology. These are basic subjects which play an important role in veterinary education and act as a mile stone for the clinical knowledge. Anatomy and Histology is foundation for other clinical subjects such as surgery, medicine and pathology. Understanding about normal form and structure of animal body at gross and microscopic level is as important as all other disciplines. The department is actively betrothed in teaching undergraduate and diploma courses. The department primarily deals with the teaching and research activities. The department has facilities for embalming of animals and is shortly initiating dissection in bovine, canine and equine.

    Description :

    Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) is a unique five-year professional degree program mainly focusing on training of the veterinary medicine students to be competent enough to practice (diagnose, treatment and management) in the field of large and small animals as well as skilled to manage poultry and dairy farms. After graduation, successful graduates can get employment in academic and research institutions, veterinary hospitals, disease diagnosis labs, breed improvement, livestock farms, extension services, and serve as commissioned officers in Pakistan Army (RV&FC) and Rangers.
