The Department of Mathematics at the University of Poonch Rawalakot is dedicated to providing students with a rigorous and comprehensive education in mathematics. We offer undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate degree programs designed to give students a solid foundation in the field of mathematics and its applications. Our faculty members are highly qualified and dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and service. We believe that mathematics is an essential tool for understanding and solving complex problems in all areas of science and technology. Our courses are designed to challenge students and provide them with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in their chosen careers.

History

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Poonch Rawalakot was established in 2013 and currently has a faculty of nine full-time members, including one Associate Professor, three Assistant Professors, and five Lecturers. Additionally, there are six visiting Lecturers in our department. The department boasts an enrollment of 267 students, comprising 18 PhD candidates, 70 MPhil students, and 179 BS students, translating to a favorable teacher-student ratio of 1:30.

More than 700 students have completed their education in BS and MSc Mathematics. Over 120 students have completed their MPhil degree in Mathematics. The department has produced more than 300 research publications with an accumulative impact factor of 500. With the availability of suitable space, we aim to launch BS programs in Statistics, Financial Mathematics, and Mathematics with Data Science.

The mission of the department is to develop the analytical and problem-solving skills of its students and to prepare them for successful careers in academia, industry, and government.

As the Chairman of the Department, I am proud to lead a team of dedicated faculty members who are committed to providing high-quality education and fostering a culture of research excellence. 

Our department's mission is to develop and disseminate mathematical knowledge and skills to our students, equipping them with the necessary tools to become successful mathematicians, educators, and researchers. We strive to create an academic environment that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation, encouraging students to pursue their intellectual curiosity and develop a lifelong love for learning.
