Haveli District is the 10th districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. It was formerly a part of Bagh District, but it separated from Bagh on 1 July 2009 and become the ninth district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. It has a population of 152,124 according to the 2017 Census. People of Haveli Districts are most educated than all districts of Azad Kashmir. Gujjar, Rathor and ethnic kashmiri Khawajas are major tribes of the District Haveli. Others include Syed Sherazi, syed Kazmi, Bukhari, Gillani, Khan (Pathan), Niazi, Dar, Kiani, Sheikh, Mughal, Thakar, Farooqi etc. According to the Alif Ailaan Pakistan District Education Rankings 2015, Haveli is ranked 17 out of 148 districts in terms of education. For facilities and infrastructure, the district is ranked 146 out of 148. In view of the educational needs of the inhabitants of the Kahuta Havelie, Sub Campus of the University of Poonch Rawalakot has been established on November 16, 2017 at Kahuta. The campus has been initially housed in the building of Boys Degree College Kahuta. In the first phase, two undergraduate degree programs have been launched in the disciplines of, Education and Computer Sciences. The cultural norms of the area and lack of resources limit the higher education opportunities for the youth especially females who are unable to join higher education institutions in big cities. The university campus at Kahuta Havelie is providing the higher education facilities to the youth at their doorsteps and enables them to take part in national development.
