About Me

Dr. Asmat Ullah Khan is serving as Assistant Professor in Department of Eastern Medicine, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences and a well-known Eastern Medicine Specialist having expertise in neurological, psychiatric and psychological disorders, brain and spine, pain, arthritis, and infertility. He obtained his under-graduation in Eastern Medicine (2010), and M.Phil. in Eastern Medicine (2014) from Hamdard University Karachi Pakistan. For his doctoral studies, he won an international fellowship (TWAS-CNPq) in Medicine (Neurology/Neuroscience) through an open competition tenable in University of Sao Paulo Brazil, South America. He obtained his Ph.D. in Neurology/Neuroscience (2018) from Ribeirao Preto Medical School of the University of Sao Paulo Brazil. University of Sao Paulo grows each year in international rankings and is always in first place not only in Brazil but throughout Latin America. He undergone an extensive medical research in Medicine (Neuroscience/Neuropsychopharmacology/Neurobiology), and antioxidant activities of medicinal plants implicated in the neurodegenerative disorders and published many research articles in world renowned scientific research journals. His research is focused on the study of neuronal pathways/circuits (GABAergic, Serotonergic, Adrenergic pathways) and brain receptors (CB1, NMDA, opioid receptors), and its implications in the behavioral responses, applying neuropsychopharmacological, neurobiological, neuroanatomical, Neuroethological, histochemical and microscopic approaches. His research has concentrated upon defining the role of CB1 receptor-mediated signaling mechanism implicated in the neuromodulation of defensive behavioral responses and fear-induced antinociception in the neuronal substrates of medial hypothalamus. Neuropharmacological approach to the medial hypothalamic nuclei in animal model, they have demonstrated that the activation of CB1 receptor-mediated encannabinoid signaling mechanisms differently modulate innate defensive behavioral and fear-induced antinociceptive responses evoked by the chemical stimulation. Neuroanatomically, he showed the presence and distribution of the CB1 receptors in all the nuclei of the ventromedial hypothalamus using immunohistochemical technique. His further research on the innate defensive behavior in animal models, recent articles related to Neuroscience and previously in M.Phil his research was related to Biochemistry focused on the role of Medicinal plants in oxidative stress in neurodegenerative diseases. Dr. Asmat Ullah Khan is also very good physician and offer consultation in the University Medical Services. He is consulting patients in the clinical setting in the downtown of Rawalakot. He was former Medical Officer in Shifa-Ul-Mulk Memorial Hospital, Hamdard University Karachi, Pakistan. He is serving as Medicine physician in U-Health International Hospital, DHA phase-II, Islamabad, Pakistan. On a personal note, Dr. Asmat Ullah Khan was born in District Bannu, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan and educated in Karachi, Sindh Province by completing his bachelor and masters in Faculty of Eastern Medicine, Hamdard University Karachi, and Ph.D. Neurology/Neuroscience in University of Sao Paulo Brazil, Latin America.
