Camels serve as hosts for various tick-borne pathogens that can lead to human illnesses. Thereby, it was necessary to identify tick species and their infestation prevalence on camels before recommendation of any tick control measures. A total of 1800 engorged and semi-engorged ticks were collected from 1000 camels. In total, tick infestation intensity and abundance were 3.191

Pregnancy is a common situation and concurrently the most altered physiologic state consisting of variety of physiological and hormonal changes. These changes begin after conception which alters the normal physiological status of blood. The present study was conducted to evaluate changes in hematological biomarkers of Achi cows at different stages of pregnancy. Forty multiparous cows with 4 ± 1 years of age and live weight of 188.23 ± 2.6 to 207.13 ± 2.59 kg of different stages of pregnancy were

Dose-dependent expression of green tea (Camellia Sinensis) extracts in the bovine semen extender for post-thawed fertility indicators. This study describes antioxidative activity of green tea (GT) extract on standard post-thawed quality indicators of frozen buffalo bull’s spermatozoa. Semen samples were obtained from the bulls for three weeks through artificial vagina. Egg yolk was used as an extender, in which different concentrations of GT extract (0.0%, 0.50%, 1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0% and 2.5%) were added. Semen quality indicators studied were the percentage of motility, survivability, plasma membrane integrity and acrosome integrit

Mitochondrial phylogenetic and diversity analysis in Azi-Kheli buffalo The present study was conducted for the first time in Pakistan to investigate Cytochrome C Oxidase Subunit 1 (CO1) gene and full-length Displacement Loop (D-loop) region of mitochondrial DNA in Azi-Kheli buffalo breed native to northern hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan. The present study was designed to investigate phylogeny and diversity in Azi-Kheli buffalo, through two mitochondrial DNA regions, i.e., Cytochrome C Oxidase Subunit-I (CO1) and Displacement Loop (D-loop) re

Pterostilbene (PTS) in blueberries is a phytoalexin with antioxidant properties. PTS exerts strong cytoprotective effects on various cells via Nuclear Factor Erythroid 2 like 2 (NFE2L2) pathway. We evaluated the antioxidant PTS treatment in mouse preimplantation embryos. In vitro culture media were supplemented with different concentrations of PTS. Treatment of zygotes with 0.25 μM PTS improved the development of day 4 blastocysts (P < 0.05). Moreover, H2O2 treatment significantly increased the

Pioglitazone Mediated Reduction in Oxidative Stress and Alteration in Level of PPARγ, NRF2 and antioxidant Enzyme Genes in Mouse Preimplantation Embryo during Maternal to Zygotic Transition. Excessive accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) is one of the reasons for the slow growth of mammalian preimplantation embryos. Peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) functions in the nuclear regulatory factor 2 (Nrf2) antioxidant pathways by binding to the promoters of antioxidant genes and regulates the expression of genes that associate with NADPH oxidase. To understand the role of PPARγ in the development of early embryos and define the mechanism responsible for th

However, the protective effects of PTS against endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) have not yet been elucidated in mouse preimplantation embryo. ERS plays an important role in regulating the pathological and physiological processes, including embryonic development. We explored the protective effect of PTS on the tunicamycin (TM)-induced ERS in mouse preimplantation embryos. In vitro, cultu

This study was designed to regulate the effect of pterostilbene on the in vitro maturation (IVM) of mouse oocytes denuded of the cumulus (DOs). Different concentration of PTS was added to IVM media with immature DOs. Excessive production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress-mediated responses are critical to embryonic development in the challenging in vitro environment. ROS production increases during early embryonic development with the increase in protein requirements for cell survival and growth. The ER is a multifunctional cellular organelle responsible for protein folding, modification, and cellular homeostasis. ER stress is activated by a variety of factors including R
